Back in the day, I started listening to bands like Metallica, Anthrax, Iron Maiden, Slayer, and Megadeth (who were underground at the time). I instantly wanted to be able to play that kind of music. I picked up a garbage guitar (I think it was an Aria pro), and sat in front of my stereo, figuring out how to play along with my new favorite bands. As soon as I could hear the sound (remotely resembling the sound of the metal guitar) coming out of my 15 watt Crate amp, I was hooked. Many of my friends developed the same love for the metal that I did and started playing guitar as well. We would all jam together, but nobody played bass. I took up the bass out of necessity and found out I enjoyed playing the bass more than the guitar. The love affair between the bass and I continues to grow every day, and has brought me here, to OIE.
